Modern Foreign Languages
"A different language is a different vision of life."
There are many advantages of children learning a foreign language. Most importantly, it is a wonderful opportunity for children to broaden their view of the world as well as providing them with a deeper understanding and respect for other cultures, people, their ideas and ways of thinking. Learning a language can also increase a child's self-confidence, self-esteem, resilience and tolerance and can provide them with fantastic opportunties in an increasingly globalised market.
Burt and Wilma have now both travelled to France along with some of our staff as part of our Erasmus+ scheme, this includes; Miss Howard, Mrs Gum, Miss L Bennett, Miss Raymond and Mrs DiVito. This has been a fantastic opportunity for staff to engage in their professional development and to ensure that aspects of culture and language is embedded in our curriculum, here at St Joseph's.
We are very excited to announce our upcoming residential trip to Rue, France in February 2023, where our children will be immersed in the French culture and language.
If you would like to find out more about how French is taught at St Joseph's, please refer to our MFL policy.
